Egypt: IGU Thematic Conference: "GEO-SPATIAL TECHNOLOGY, GLOBAL CHANGES AND SUSTAINABILITY". 12 - 19 April 2025.

Ireland: 35th International Geographical Congress 2024 - Dublin (25-30 August). COMLAND has 2 special Papers Sessions and a full day field excursion.
Algeria: International Conference - Land Degradation and Sustainable Development in the Steppes. 18-21 November 2024. Djelfa, Algeria
2023
Spain: 9th EUGEO Congress - Barcelona (4-7 September 2023). There was a dedicated COMLAND Papers Session and Business Meeting during the Congress. A dedicated COMLAND Field Excursion occurred on Friday 8 September. Schedule for Abstracts was posted on the official website. The deadline for Abstracts expired on 14 April 2023.
COMLAND supported the Conference field trip and attendees reported that Dr Joaquim Farguell Perez and his colleagues organised and managed a very good field trip.
It was also reported that although the formal COMLAND Conference Papers Session went well, not all scheduled people were present.
COMLAND offered thanks and gratitude to retiring Steering Committee Member Dr Xavier Ubeda and, in turn, welcomed Dr Joaquim Farguell Perez as new Steering Committee member (Spain).
China: International Workshop on Geography and Sustainability 2023 - Beijing (26-29 October 2023). COMLAND will host an on-line Thematic Session (#11 Land Degradation as a Local and Global Challenge) along with Sessions hosted by several other IGU Commissions.

France: IGU Centennial Congress - Paris (18-22 July 2022) with special UGI (COMLAND) session: “Land Degradation: An Underestimated Environmental Challenge”. COMLAND Business Meeting was held during the Congress.
Portugal: 10th International Conference on Geomorphology - Coimbra Portugal (12-16 September 2022). Pre- and Post- Field Excursions.

- UPDATED: COMLAND has 2 scheduled Papers Sessions (C.27) on Sunday 25 August 2024 all day (08:30 to 17:30).
- Morning Session 08:30 - 12:00 "Peatland degradation: current status and sustainable solutions".
- Afternoon Session 14:00 - 17:30 "Increasing extreme weather events and land degradation".
- Field excursion (full day) on Friday 30 August 2024. Register (and pay) for the field trip now. The field trip is open to any Congress attendee and therefore is likely to sell out early. Participant numbers are solely dependent on bus seats. There will only be one bus!
